Bishkek, Jan.15, 2020 /Kabar/. Austrian President Alexander Van der Bellen expressed interest in joint work with Kyrgyzstan on climate change, environmental protection, in particular, the fight against glacier melt. This became known at the meeting of the Austrian leader with Ambassador of Kyrgyzstan to the Republic of Austria Bakyt Dzhusupov, held on Jan.14.
The meeting of Bakyt Dzhusupov with Alexander Van der Bellen took place within the framework of the Austrian president’s annual meeting with ambassadors, accredited in this country, the press service of the Kyrgyz Foreign Ministry said Wednesday.
During the meeting, Ambassador Dzhusupov informed the Austrian President about the steps taken by both sides to further develop mutually beneficial partnership between the two countries, and briefed on the current domestic political and economic situation in Kyrgyzstan.
"The Ambassador of Kyrgyzstan told Alexander Van der Bellen about the message of Kyrgyz President Sooronbay Jeenbekov and the tasks set by him to the Foreign Ministry of the country.
It was especially noted that among the priorities and the new direction is environmental diplomacy. The Austrian President expressed interest in joint work between the two countries on climate change, environmental protection, in particular, the fight against melting glaciers, while confirming the similarity of Kyrgyzstan and Austria," the report of the Kyrgyz MFA said.
