Bishkek, Oct. 2, 2021 . / Kabar / . Vienna hosted on Friday a meeting between Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan Ruslan Kazakbaev and Vice President of the Federal Economic Chamber of Austria Richard Schenz.
The press service of the Kyrgyz Foreign Ministry reported that during the meeting, the sides discussed current issues of trade and economic cooperation between the Kyrgyz Republic and Austria.
They noted significant untapped potential of trade and economic cooperation and the need to increase mutual trade turnover between the two countries.
In this regard, Ruslan Kazakbaev and Richard Schenz stressed the importance of continuing work within the Kyrgyz-Austrian intergovernmental commission on economic cooperation and mutual visits of business missions of the two countries, and outlined plans to carry out this work in 2022.
Kazakbaev also invited the VP of the Austrian Federal Economic Chamber to take part in the 1st EU-CA Economic Forum, which will be held on Nov. 5, 2021 in Bishkek, as well as to hold a bilateral Kyrgyz-Austrian Business Forum within the Economic Forum.
In turn, Robtert Schenz noted that the Austrian side supports the first EU-CA Economic Forum and confirmed the participation of the Austrian business-delegation there.
In conclusion, the sides discussed further development of cooperation between the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Kyrgyz Republic and the Federal Economic Chamber of Austria.
In particular, the Kyrgyz side expressed interest in training by Austrian experts Kyrgyz entrepreneurs in preparation of business projects in accordance with international standards and feasibility studies for the implementation of projects in important areas for the economy of the Kyrgyz Republic, such as agriculture, hydropower, education, health, tourism, digitalization.
Minister Kazakbaev also suggested to consider the possibility of establishing joint ventures in the territory of the Kyrgyz Republic on production, processing of agricultural products and further sales to the EU markets, taking into account the republic's GSP+ status.
Robert Schenz noted the possibility of providing "soft" loans (preferential lending) to Kyrgyzstan when implementing projects in health, education, digitalization by Austrian companies in the republic, as well as the possibility of funding by the Austrian side of private enterprise projects in the field of sport and tourism.
