Bishkek, Mar.3. 2020. /Kabar/. Yesterday, Mar.2, during the dispersal of protesters in the Kyrgyz capital city of Bishkek, a young girl has been injured by a rubber bullet.
She was diagnosed with chest bruises and a hematoma, Kabar Agency has learnt from the press service of the Ministry of Health of the country.
"She has been discharged from hospital at night, as her condition was stable," the report says.
Supporters of ex-MP Sadyr Zhaparov, who is serving a 10-year sentence for hostage-taking, organized a protest action on Monday afternoon at the Ala-Too Square in Bishkek demanding to release the politician.
However, towards evening, the protesters moved towards the Parliament building, later they went out onto the roadway and blocked traffic. In addition, they began throwing stones at policemen standing in cordon. After that, law enforcement officers, dispersed the protesters using a water cannon, noise and gas grenades.
Organizers and active participants of the action Kanybek Osmonaliev, Sabyr Dzhaparov, Amangeldy Artykov and others, who intended to put forward demands for the release of Sadyr Zhaparov were detained.
After the protest action, which led to riots, 166 people were brought to the departments of internal affairs in Bishkek.
According to the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, 162 of them were released after conducting identification work.
The Bishkek city police department started pre-trial proceedings under Art. 264 (Mass riots) of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic.
As part of the pre-trial proceedings, four citizens were detained.
As a result of the riots, 24 police officers received injuries of varying severity.
