Bishkek, Jan. 22, 2018 / Kabar /. A unified award ceremony for the best achievements in sport and youth policy - Sports and Youth Awards-2017, dedicated to the memory of Murat Saralinov was held in Kyrgyzstan for the first time, the press service of the State Agency for Youth, Physical Culture and Sports (SAYPCS) of the Kyrgyz Republic reported.
The ceremony took place on Jan. 20 at the Kyrgyz National Philharmonics of Bishkek. The event was attended by the Heads of the SAYPCS, the National Olympic Committee (NOC)of the Kyrgyz Republic, sports and youth organizations, federations, members of national teams in sports, students of the Kyrgyz State Institute of Physical Culture and Sports (KSIPCS) and students of the Republican School of Olympic Reserves (RSOR).
The Head of the SAYPCS, Kanat Amankulov said that in 2016 domestic athletes won 538 medals in international competitions, and in 2017 - 657 medals were won and this growth is both in quantity and in quality as well. Good results were achieved at the Asian Games in Ashgabat last year and the Islamic Solidarity Games in Baku, besides that five championships of Asia were held in Kyrgyzstan.
"This year we came to a unified definition of the best athletes’ ceremony. In future this ceremony will be held in the same spirit and will be dedicated to the memory of M.Saralinov," Amankulov said and wished everyone success and high achievements in 2018.
This year, the award ceremony Sports and Youth Awards-2017 was held with the support of the NOC and the SAYPCS. The best athletes were chosen based on Topsport.kg. Based on initiative of the NOC the Sports and Youth Awards-2017 includes a permanent scholarship from M.Saralinov where winners in addition will receive a cash prize of $ 1,000. It is important to stress that this award is given to athletes of Olympic sports.
