Bishkek, Jan. 31, 2024. /Kabar/. Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers - Minister of Water Resources, Agriculture and Processing Industry Bakyt Torobaev, as part of a working trip to Brussels (Kingdom of Belgium), met with Vice President of the European Commission/EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell.
During the conversation, the parties discussed current issues of bilateral cooperation with an emphasis on the development of transport links, transit potential and trade.
During a meeting with European partners, Bakyt Torobaev raised the issues of removing Kyrgyz airlines from the EU flight safety list, simplifying the visa regime for citizens of Kyrgyzstan, and proposed establishing cooperation in the development of deposits of rare earth and other critical metals. He also expressed his wish for the European side to consider the possibility of supporting the exchange of the country’s external debt for “green” projects.
Josep Borrell noted the growing role of Central Asia in the world and confirmed the intentions of the European Union to strengthen ties and cooperation with Kyrgyzstan in all areas of mutual interest.
