Bashkortostan and Kyrgyzstan are tied by linguistic and spiritual-cultural affinity, rooted deeper into the centuries, head of the Republic of Bashkortostan Rustem Khamitov said speaking at the International Forum "Altai civilization and related peoples of the Altaic language family", which takes place in Bishkek.
More than 2 thousand Kyrgyzstanis work in Bashkortostan, and since 2006 the center of Kyrgyz culture "Ala-Too" has been operating.
"There are more than 4 million people in Bashkortostan who represent more than 100 nationalities. Among them, 30% are Bashkirs, Russians - 30% and Tatars - 25%. For several centuries of cohabitation, a respectful attitude to language, culture and religious positions has been formed. There was a merging of these cultures on a personal level. Many understand the languages of each other and together celebrate Orthodox and Muslim holidays," he said.
He also said that Bishkek and Ufa last week became twin cities.
"This is a significant step towards strengthening our friendship of strategic partnership. Of course, I support the idea that we must work together to find our sources. This will strengthen the economy and move forward. Thank you for raising the global issue," he said.
