Batken residents returning to their homes

Bishkek, Sept. 30, 2022 / Kabar /. 123 thousand 345 people who fled from Batken Oblast during the period of armed aggression from Tajikistan returned to their homes. In total, according to data of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, more than 136,000 people left the zone of hostilities on the territory of Kyrgyzstan.

630 houses were damaged in the conflict zone, of which 425 need to be rebuilt. Enormous damage was caused to the social infrastructure, 11 administrative and strategic facilities are in the ruins -12 schools, the same number of kindergartens, 4 medical institutions and hundreds of different households.

For those left homeless, temporary housing has been organized through the emergency department - 64 rooms in 8 surviving institutions and 218 houses of local residents. Evaluation and restoration of facilities are ongoing. Rescuers, volunteers and special equipment are involved in the work.

Prime Minister Akylbek Zhaparov visited the damaged villages of Kapchygai, Ak-Sai, Min-Oruk and Dostuk of Batken Oblast.

“In the village of Kapchygay, almost all houses were destroyed. We will build new houses, which we provide with infrastructure, including clean water, street lighting, paved roads. This will be a new village, an appropriate master plan needs to be developed,” Akylbek Zhaparov said, giving instructions to the relevant state and local authorities.
