Bishkek, June 6 / Kabar /. Delegation of Belgian Federation of Flemish Deaf Organisations (Fevlado) has arrived in Kyrgyzstan on June 4 to help improve the livelihoods of people with disabilities.
The press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported that, the Belgian delegation was headed by President Andy Van Hoorebeke, accompanied by Managing Director Philip Weirstraite and other experts and members of the union. The visit will last until June 10.
During the first visit, meetings of representatives of the Belgian delegation with competent bodies of Kyrgyzstan are planned: the Ministry of Labor and Social Development of the Kyrgyz Republic, the Plenipotentiary Mission of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic in the south of Kyrgyzstan, the Kyrgyz Society of the Blind and Deaf, the Karasuu Special Boarding School for Deaf Children and the Rotary Club in Bishkek.
The main objectives of the first visit were to establish contacts in Kyrgyzstan, identify problematic issues and needs with a view to further rendering practical assistance in this area from both the Belgian side and the World Federation of the Deaf. The visit of the Belgian specialists provides for the exchange of experience of doctors / educators, internship, the introduction of new training programs, methods, the acquisition of educational materials, the updating of equipment / technology for persons with hearing impairment and others.
The visit was initiated and organized with the assistance of the Embassy of Kyrgyzstan in Belgium within the framework of the Kyrgyz-Belgian cooperation in the field of health and social development.
