Belgium transfers Kyrgyz side materials about Chyngyz Aitmatov’s life including his never published poem

Brussels, Feb. 17 / Kabar /. President of Kyrgyzstan Almazbek Atambayev took part in the ceremony of handing over to the Kyrgyz side the archival materials about the life and work of famous Kyrgyz writer Chyngyz Aitmatov.

The ceremony took place in Brussels on February 16. Close friends and well-known writer Jacques and Goldy Blankoff’s handed over the photos, audio and video recording, as well as books with the autograph of Aitmatov. As it turned out, the Blankoff’s have a never published poem of Chyngyz Aitmatov.

"Not many people know, but you were very close friends of Chyngyz Aitmatov. I want to say that Chyngyz Aitmatov is not just a writer of a country, he has the scale of the entire planet. During my presidency, we were able to erect a decent monument to the great writer. His symbols and images went around the world. For example, the word "mankurt" is known worldwide as the word "satellite",” Atambayev said.

The Kyrgyz President expressed gratitude to the Blankoff’s for the preservation and transmission of Chingiz Aitmatov’s archival materials to Kyrgyzstan.

"Some of the materials will be transferred to the Aitmatov’s Museum, other useful information will be used by his followers," he added.

The official protocol of transmission of archival documents on the life and works of Chyngyz Aitmatov is signed by Kyrgyz Foreign Minister Erlan Abdyldaev.

Great writer Chyngyz Aitmatov was the Kyrgyz Ambassador to BENELUX countries (Belgium, the Netherlands, Luxemburg) from 1994 to- 2006.
