Ashgabat, Aug. 23, 2018 / Kabar /. Bishkek and Ashgabat became twin cities. The agreement between the Bishkek Mayor’s Office and the Ashgabat Hyakimlik has been signed today in the Turkmen capital.

The document was signed by Bishkek Mayor Aziz Surakmatov and from Turkmenistan side by hakim Shamukhammet Durdylyev. The document was signed within the framework of the state visit of President Sooronbay Jeenbekov to Turkmenistan.

After signing the documents, Sooronbay Jeenbekov noted that a large package of important bilateral documents was signed following the results of today's meetings.

"Turkmenistan is our important and reliable partner. In 2017, we celebrated the 25th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations. Our relations with Turkmenistan are developing dynamically on the basis of the principles of mutual respect, equality and mutually beneficial cooperation. This meets the long-term interests of the two countries and peoples," Jeenbekov said.

He also stressed the personal merit of Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow in strengthening bilateral relations and cooperation with Kyrgyzstan.

The Kyrgyz President expressed gratitude to Berdimuhamedow for his contribution to the development of fraternal ties between the two countries and invited him to visit the Kyrgyz Republic on a return visit.
