Bishkek, Dushanbe agree to speed up border delimitation process and solve water issues

Bishkek, July 24, 2018 / Kabar /. Foreign Ministers of Kyrgyzstan Erlan Abdyldaev and Tajikistan Sirojiddin Mukhriddin agreed to accelerate the process of delimitation of the state border. The agreement was reached in the city of Cholpon-Ata in the framework of the Consultative Meeting of the Foreign Ministers of the Central Asian countries.

The sides discussed a complex of issues of bilateral relations, prospects for further development of cooperation in the political, trade-economic and cultural-humanitarian spheres.

An exchange of views was held on cooperation in the joint counteraction against the threats of terrorism and extremism, on speeding up the process of delimitation of borders, solving water and energy issues, as well as on issues of interaction within regional and international organizations (UN, OSCE, CIS, CSTO, SCO).

During the conversation, Abdyldaev stressed that both sides are actively working on implementing the agreements reached after the official visit of President Sooonaby Jeenbekov to Tajikistan in Feb. 2018. He stressed that the development of bilateral relations with Tajikistan remains a priority direction of the foreign policy of the Kyrgyz Republic.

At the end of the meeting, confidence was expressed that the existing friendly relations between Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan will continue to serve as a basis for further mutually beneficial cooperation and strengthening of good-neighborliness.
