Bishkek has lowest wages and purchasing power among capitals of EAEU member states

Bishkek, Nov. 2, 2021 . / Kabar / . The National Statistics Committee of Kyrgyzstan compared prices for socially important food products in capitals of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) member states - Bishkek, Moscow, Minsk and Nur-Sultan.

In September 2021, the maximum average retail price for beef among the capitals of EAEU member states ($6.66 per kg) was registered in Moscow, while the minimum retail price ($4.30 per kg) - in Minsk.

The lowest prices for mutton ($5.72 per kg) and butter ($ 4.09 per kg) were recorded in Bishkek.

A comparative analysis of the purchasing power of average monthly wages in the capitals of individual EAEU member states shows that in September 2021 it was behind the levels in Bishkek for basic necessities products in other capitals of EAEU member states, which is due to the low average wage in the Kyrgyz capital.

The average monthly salary in Bishkek was $297.6, in Nur-Sultan - $794.8, in Moscow - $1,483.7, in Minsk - $803.6.

For instance, on an average salary in Bishkek it is possible to buy more than 50 kg of beef, while in Moscow - 4.3 times more or 224 kg.

One salary in the Kazakh capital city of Nur-Sultan is enough to buy about 2 tons of bread, and in Bishkek - 3.1 times less (498 kg).
