Bishkek, Nov. 28, 2024. /Kabar/. The 12th meeting of the Kyrgyz-Belarusian intergovernmental commission on trade, economic, scientific, technical and cultural cooperation was held in Bishkek on Thursday.
The Cabinet of Ministers reported that the meeting began with a meeting in a narrow format between Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan - Minister of Water Resources, Agriculture and Processing Industry Bakyt Torobaev and Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Belarus Anatoly Sivak.
The meeting discussed current issues of Kyrgyz-Belarusian relations. After that, the meeting continued in an expanded format.
The co-chairs noted that this commission is an important mechanism for promoting a wide range of bilateral cooperation and creating conditions for the implementation of joint mutually beneficial projects. They confirmed their readiness for the further development of multilateral cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and Belarus.
For example, the volume of trade turnover between the two countries for the first 9 months of this year amounted to 68 million US dollars. The sides agreed on the need to intensify the work of government agencies of the two countries to achieve a trade turnover figure of 500 million US dollars in the next 3 years.
The sides also noted the coincidence of positions on the issue of restoring direct flights between Minsk and Bishkek. According to statistics, at the end of last year, about 5,000 citizens of Belarus visited Kyrgyzstan, over 4,000 people in the first 8 months of this year.
In order to increase the level of industrial cooperation, it was decided to intensify the work of the working group on industrial cooperation created at the previous meeting of the commission.
Bakyt Torobaev and Anatoly Sivak emphasized that the priority areas of bilateral cooperation are agriculture and the agro-industrial sector.
The sides also noted the need to deepen the dialogue in the cultural and humanitarian sphere and joint efforts to bring cooperation in the field of education and healthcare to a qualitatively new level.
After the speeches of the co-chairs of the intergovernmental commission, reports were heard from the heads of state departments of the two countries on the implementation of the protocol of the previous meeting, increasing the level of cooperation in the field of industry, development of agriculture, veterinary and phytosanitary safety, transport, communications, logistics, education and healthcare.
Following the meeting, the protocol of the 12th meeting of the Kyrgyz-Belarusian intergovernmental commission and a memorandum on bilateral cooperation between Avtomash-Radiator LLC (Kyrgyzstan) and Gomselmash OJSC (Belarus) were signed.
