Bishkek, June 3, 2022. / Kabar /. A bike ride dedicated to the World Bicycle Day was held in one of the parks in Bishkek on Friday.

The event was attended by Ambassador of Turkmenistan to Kyrgyzstan Shadurdy Meredov, representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Culture, Information, Sports and Youth Policy of the Kyrgyz Republic, ambassadors of Azerbaijan, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Russia, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and cyclists.

The bike ride, organized by the Embassy of Turkmenistan in the Kyrgyz Republic, is dedicated to the World Bicycle Day, which is celebrated every year on June 3.

In his speech before the start of the ride, Ambassador Shadurdy Meredov noted that on April 12, 2018, at the initiative of Turkmenistan, the United Nations General Assembly adopted a Resolution on declaring June 3 the World Bicycle Day, co-sponsored by 56 countries of the world, including Kyrgyzstan.

“The bike is easy to drive, affordable, reliable, environmentally friendly. It helps to improve physical and mental health. This is how the resolution describes a bicycle, a means of transportation that mankind has been using for 200 years.

President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov pays special attention to the development of physical culture and sports in the country. A lot of work is being done to improve the health of citizens, increase life expectancy, create conditions for physical education and sports, and increase the country's sports authority,” the ambassador said.

This year, bike rides and bike marathons on the occasion of the World Bicycle Day will be held in all the regions of Turkmenistan and abroad.
