Bishkek, Oct.23, 2019. /Kabar/. Kabar News Agency is hosting “Sverdlovsk Oblast-Kyrgyzstan: social and cultural adaptation issues and integration of Kyrgyz citizens into Russian society” teleconference.
Co-Chairman of the Pikir Club of Regional Experts of Kyrgyzstan Igor Shestakov said agreement to hold such an event was reached in June.
“The topic of labor migration is a key one throughout all the years of cooperation between Russia and Kyrgyzstan, because, according to various estimates, about half a million of our citizens work today in the regions of the Russian Federation.
Yekaterinburg was chosen because since the late 1990s it has been the place where Kyrgyz people go. According to official data, there are more than 30 thousand of our citizens there, but, as they say, the official statistics lag behind the real one,” he said.
Shestakov noted Kyrgyzstan ranks second among legally employed migrants, ahead of Uzbekistan.
“I think this is one of the indicators of the policy, pursued by President of Kyrgyzstan, related to the development of a wider range of cooperation with Russia, and we, in fact, in one way or another, coincided with next year, because 2020 will be the year of Kyrgyzstan in Russia and Russia in Kyrgyzstan. Presidents agreed on this during Vladimir Putin's state visit to Bishkek in March," Shestakov said.
He stressed the purpose of the event is to tell the citizens of the Kyrgyz Republic how to integrate into the Russian reality more successfully today.
