Bishkek, Nov.19, 2019. /Kabar/. High-level International Donor Conference with the participation of Kyrgyz President Sooronbay Jeenbekov is being held in Bishkek.
The event is attended by more than 35 organizations and countries.
In his welcoming speech, the President noted since independence, major projects have been implemented with the help of partners.
“Large infrastructure projects were implemented with the financial support of the Asian Development Bank. On the basis of close cooperation with the World Bank, projects were implemented in the field of energy, road construction and infrastructure development. The International Monetary Fund and the Eurasian Bank for Reconstruction and Development have provided significant assistance in ensuring financial stability," said the President.
Sooronbay Jeenbekov continued the UN Agencies have made invaluable contributions to the sustainable development of the country.
“They are currently working in the regions on education, health, social protection and environmental issues. Projects on clean drinking water and irrigation are being implemented with the assistance of the World Bank, the Asian Development Bank, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, the Islamic Development Bank and other donor organizations. Work is being carried out bilaterally with the Russian Federation, the People's Republic of China, Turkey, European countries, Japan, South Korea, the United States, Switzerland, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait and other countries,” he added.
The Kyrgyz leader pointed out the decision to hold today's Forum was taken during last year's meeting.
“At today's Forum, we decided to talk about what areas of the country's development will be a priority in the near future. The goal of today's work is to accelerate reforms that ensure development, redirect investments to the necessary direction and ensure the effectiveness of financial injections," he added.
Also, the head of state stressed the importance of clearly identifying the priority joint actions for the country to implement the Strategies for Long Term and Medium Term development.
In particular, this is development of regions, human capital development, education, digitalization, security, exports, implementation of major projects, health care, social security, ensuring the rule of law.
“During the last year, all strategic and conceptual documents in the country were aligned with the main directions of the National Strategy until 2040. I think it is necessary to pay special attention to them today and discuss them in detail, because since only after specifically considering this period, we will be able to clearly define the scale of funding and its internal and external sources,” he added.
