Bishkek, Aug. 27, 2024. / Kabar/. The Kyrgyz-Saudi Business Council took place in Bishkek, with the participation of First Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic Adylbek Kasymaliev, President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Kyrgyz Republic Temir Sariev, Kyrgyz Ambassador to Saudi Arabia Ulukbek Maripov, Chairman of the Saudi-Kyrgyz Business Council Ahmed Al-Dakhil, and representatives of 50 companies from both countries.
In his speech, Adylbek Kasymaliev emphasized the importance of the new stage in Kyrgyz-Saudi relations, especially following the recent visit of Kyrgyz President Sadyr Zhaparov. He noted that the creation of the Kyrgyz-Saudi Business Council is a significant step towards strengthening bilateral cooperation.
Trade turnover between Kyrgyzstan and Saudi Arabia reached 1.4 million USD in 2023, reflecting the dynamic development of economic ties. Temir Sariev, President of the CCI of the Kyrgyz Republic, highlighted that the Kyrgyz business community is actively working to expand and deepen these relationships.
Particular attention was given to Saudi Arabia’s mega-project — the construction of Neom city, which promises to become one of the most ambitious projects of our time. Temir Sariev pointed out that this project offers extensive opportunities for cooperation with Kyrgyz companies, especially in the context of a similar project, the construction of Asman city in Issyk-Kul. Kyrgyz construction companies, with their rich experience in implementing large-scale projects, are ready to contribute to the development of Neom.
In addition, several promising projects that caught the interest of Saudi businessmen, including the development of renewable energy sources and the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway line with potential access to the Persian Gulf were discussed.
During the Business Council, representatives from relevant ministries and agencies, as well as the business community, presented their projects, and Saudi businessmen are planning to visit several enterprises in Kyrgyzstan.
