Bishkek, Sept. 27, 2023. /Kabar/. A meeting of ministers of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) member states responsible for foreign economic and foreign trade activities has begun in Bishkek.
In his speech, Minister of Economy and Commerce of the Kyrgyz Republic Daniyar Amangeldiev emphasized that the agenda of today’s event is very relevant and requires the adoption of effective decisions and measures to further expand trade and economic ties in the SCO region, improve investment potential and implement joint SCO projects.
“I consider it important to intensify work to effectively promote the goals of the SCO, in terms of ensuring long-term economic progress, including by effectively responding to short-term crises,” he said.
Amangeldiev noted that this is primarily a food security crisis, associated, among other things, with climate change, disruption of the functioning of international transport corridors for the delivery of food products and rising energy prices.
In this context, the Kyrgyz minister of economy invited the participants:
- to develop an international transport logistics system to ensure uninterrupted delivery of goods;
- to expand cooperation on digital trade, which in the future will simplify trade procedures;
- to expand the use of renewable energy sources and energy-saving production technologies.
During the meeting, the sides will consider the progress in implementing the provisions of the Program of Multilateral Trade and Economic Cooperation of the SCO Member States, exchange views on the current state and prospects for the further development of multilateral business and investment partnerships in the SCO space.
