Bishkek, June 3, 2021. / Kabar / . The National Media Forum entitled “Development of the Information Policy Concept: Dialogue between the State and the Media" was being Thursday in Bishkek.
The Forum was organized by the Media Dialogue project, financed by the European Union together with the Ministry of Culture, Information, Sports and Youth Policy of Kyrgyzstan.
As part of the Media Forum, a draft of the country's information policy concept was presented.
Press secretary of Kyrgyz president Erbol Sultanbayev noted cooperation with the media will be as open as possible.
"The pillar of the new concept should be the consolidation of the principles of freedom of speech. This is clearly reflected in the country's Constitution. This is my first meeting with such a solid composition of the media community, and I want to assure you that in our work we will be as close to you as possible and provide the necessary information. But I also urge members of the media to give verified, reliable information and to check with state bodies,” the press secretary said.
The draft concept covers the period from 2021 to 2025. It was developed over six months with the participation of stakeholders, including representatives of media organizations and content producers, state and local authorities, public and business organizations, and educational institutions.
The document represents the consolidated opinion of the parties regarding the goals and objectives of the country's information policy in the medium term.
