Bishkek, May 24, 2021 . / Kabar / . A sambo tournament among young men was held in the Kyrgyz capital city of Bishkek in the framework of month dedicated to the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, the press service of the Service for Combating Illegal Drug Trafficking of the Kyrgyz Internal Ministry said Monday.
Within the framework of the above mentioned month, the Service for Combating Illegal Drug Trafficking together with the Department of Physical Culture and Sports of the Bishkek Mayor’s Office held on May 22-23 an international sambo tournament among boys and juniors.
This tournament was organized in memory of Bekbolot Rakhatbekov, master of sports in sambo and judo, champion of Asia and winner of the World Cup.
More than 500 athletes from Russia, Tajikistan and Kazakhstan took part in the competition.
The tournament was held in order to popularize and assist mass development of sambo in the Kyrgyz Republic, as well as to promote healthy lifestyle, to involve people in regular exercises of physical culture and sports.
At the end of the tournament, prizewinners were awarded diplomas, cups and also prizes in nominations for will to win and the best shot.
