Bishkek mayor to be elected on August 8

Bishkek, July 23, 2018. / Kabar /. Elections of mayor of Bishkek will be held on August 8, the press service of the Central Election Commission (CEC) reported.

The CEC received a resolution of Prime Minister of the Kyrgyz Republic Mukhamedlakiy Abylgaziev dated July 19, 2018 No. 487, by which Mayor of Bishkek, Albek Ibraimov was dismissed "in connection with the decision of the Bishkek city council on the expression of vote of no confidence." The decision of the Bishkek city council dated July 13, 2018 No. 67 is the basis for the resolution.

In accordance with the Law of the Kyrgyz Republic "On the Status of the Capital", in case of early resignation of the mayor, the CEC arranges the election of the mayor of Bishkek not later than 10 calendar days from the day of the vacancy.

Elections of the mayor of the city of Bishkek are carried out by deputies of the Bishkek city council by secret ballot.
