At the initiative of the United Nations (UN), an annual 16-days campaign against gender-based violence has been launched around the world, calling for the prevention and elimination of violence against girls and women, and the Bishkek Mayor's Office is joining this campaign, the mayor's office said.
The Bishkek Mayor's Office did not stand aside, as a sign of solidarity, we join the campaign to ensure the safety of all citizens. After all, we must live in a safe city where there is no violence. As part of the action, an orange light will be on in the building of the city hall for 16 days, the report said.
The campaign to end all forms of violence against women will run until Dec.10 the International Human Rights Day.
Orange today symbolizes hope for a better future where women are not subject to violence.
