Bishkek, Mar. 11, 2019. /Kabar/. The traditional city festival of farewell to winter, Maslenitsa, was held outside the building of the People's Assembly of Kyrgyzstan, the press service of Bishkek Mayor's Office reported.
The event was had been organized by the Embassy of the Russian Federation in the Kyrgyz Republic with the support of Bishkek Mayor's Office, as well as the representative office of Rossotrudnichestvo in the Kyrgyz Republic and the Harmony Russian cultural center.
A colorful festive event with fun contests for which the winners and participants received prizes were held for the residents. Chastushkas and songs were sung joyfully and enthusiastically.
Various competitions were organized for children and adults – movement on stilts, lifting a dumbbell, speed eating of crepes and many more interesting and fun activities. Both the youngest children and the elderly took part in them.
During the festive concert, well-known folk groups and artists of Kyrgyzstan performed, those present actively participated in khorovod (circle dancing and chorus singing at the same time) and dances, the guests of the festival got acquainted with old Russian dances and traditions, tasted traditional Maslenitsa treats and a symbol of the holiday – delicious crepes.
The event ended with the traditional burning of stuffed Maslenitsa (stuffed figure of winter).
