Bishkek sums up results of ‘Kyrgyzstan-Land of Short Films’ festival

Bishkek, Dec.16, 2019. /Kabar/. The Kyrgyzstan-Land of Short Films International Film Festival concluded in Bishkek, the organizers announced the names of winners.

On Dec. 12-15 townspeople were able to watch movies of countries of the Commonwealth of Independent State (CIS), Baltic states and Georgia. The Festival included two programs: International and National Competition.

This year 14 movies were featured in the International Program, and 17 domestic films-in the National.

The list of winners of the International Program is shown below:

Best film- Collective. Me, director is Adriāna Roze (Latvia);

Best director- In Joy and Only in Joy by Marina Roshchina from Ukraine;

Special Jury Prize- Sunflower, directed by Chyngyz Sulumbekov from Kyrgyzstan;

Audience Award- Russian director Maxim Kaplya’s In the Dark film.

Winners of the National Program are:

Best film-Tradition by Zhanuzak Mamytov;

Best director- My Friend is My Enemy of Suium Sulaimanova;

Special Jury Prize- director Daniyar Abirov’s 51+;

Audience Award-Native land by directors Gulnara Aitmamatova and Azamat Asanbekov;

Special mention of the Jury diploma- Landfill by Dmitry Luzhansky (Kyrgyzstan).

In 2011, Kyrgyzstan –Land of Short Films was founded by Kyrgyz director, producer, and public figure, Sadyk Sher-Niyaz. Each year the Festival is held by Aitysh Public Fund, Aitysh Film, and the Union of Filmmakers of Kyrgyzstan on Dec. 12-15. The Festival Opening marks the birthday of famous Kyrgyz writer Chyngyz Airmatov.

The Festival accepts all short films (including documentary, animations, and live action) from the CIS countries, including the Republic of Georgia and the Baltic states.
