Bishkek to celebrate Iranian holiday Yalda with traditional music concert

Bishkek, Dec. 18, 2024. / Kabar /. On December 21, a concert in honor of the ancient national holiday Yalda will be held in Bishkek, the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Kyrgyzstan reported.

The Khiyal ensemble, presenting classical Iranian music, will perform on stage. The group includes virtuosos of traditional instruments.

The concert will be held as part of strengthening cultural ties between Iran and Kyrgyzstan. Spectators will be able to hear the unique sound of ancient musical traditions and touch the cultural heritage of Iran.

Yalda is one of the oldest Iranian holidays, celebrated on the longest night of the year, which is considered a symbol of the transition from darkness to light. Traditionally, families gather together, read Hafez poetry, and enjoy fruits and sweets such as watermelon and pomegranate, which symbolize life and rebirth.

The Khiyal Ensemble brings together masters of Iranian classical music. The group is known for its performances at international festivals, where it presents Iran's rich musical heritage, combining ancient melodies with modern arrangements.
