Bishkek, Sept. 23, 2024. /Kabar/. The 5th international charity half-marathon “Snow Leopard Run 2024” will be held in Bishkek on Sept. 29. The event is organized by the Public Association Nomad Sport.
The organizers of the event noted that this year's half marathon is expected to be attended by about 4.5 thousand people. The race will be held for the distances: 5 km, 14 km, 21.1 km, as well as for the race for children from three to thirteen years old.
“Snow Leopard Run 2024 is more than a sporting event. It is an opportunity to unite the efforts of thousands of people for the sake of protecting one of the rarest and most amazing animals - the snow leopard.
After the first half-marathon in 2019, part of the funds raised were used to purchase camera traps for the Global Snow Leopard Conservation Program and its ecosystem. In 2021 - to purchase a NIVA vehicle for gamekeepers of the Issyk-Kul Biosphere Zone so that they could patrol hard-to-reach mountainous areas. In 2022, thanks to the contributions of the participants of the race, a modern wrestling ground appeared at the Dolon Omurzakov Stadium,” Chairman of Nomad Sport Arslan Maldybaev said.
He also added that funds from the last year’s half marathon were allocated to support the Botanical Garden named after Gareyev.
“We gave its employees more than 39 units of special equipment. This is the first time that the Botanical Garden has received such a large amount of assistance. And all this happens thanks to our participants - amateur runners and professional track and field athletes,” Maldybaev said.
Nomad Sport was formed in 2018, when a group of like-minded enthusiasts decided to engage in popularization of mass sports and principles of healthy lifestyle in Kyrgyzstan.
