Bishkek to host concert dedicated to 175th anniversary of Kazakh poet Abay Kunanbayev

Bishkek, March 9, 2021. / Kabar /. The Kyrgyz National Opera and Ballet Theater named after Abdylas Maldybaev in Bishkek will host on March 10 a concert dedicated to the 175th anniversary of great poet, thinker, educator and social activist Abay Kunanbayev.

The press service of the Kyrgyz Ministry of Culture, Information, Sports and Youth Policy reported that the concert will start at 6:30 p.m. local time.

Minister of Culture and Sports of Kazakhstan Aktoty Raimkulova and Deputy Minister of Culture of Uzbekistan Olimjon Mirzaev will take part in the event.

Artists from Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Turkey and Turkmenistan will also take part in the concert.

Abay Kunanbayev is a great poet of Kazakh people, philosopher - humanist, composer and exquisite master of artistic word.

He contributed to the dissemination of the Russian and European culture among Kazakhs.

Abay created about 170 pieces of poetry and 56 translations, wrote poems, prose poem “Kara soz” – “Words of edification” (“Kara sozder”), consisting of 45 brief parables or philosophical treatises. These “Edifications” raise issues of history, pedagogy, morality and rights of ethnic Kazakhs. He was also a composer and created about two dozen melodies that are popular in modern times.
