Book about first Kyrgyz woman-politician published in English

Bishkek, Oct. 22, 2021. / Kabar /. A book about the first Kyrgyz woman-politician has been published in English, Hertfordshire Press reported.

The British publishing house Hertfordshire Press has published a poem by Kyrgyz poet Bubaisha Arstanbekova about the history of the outstanding Kurmanjan Datka in English, which reveals the way of life of the Kyrgyz people during a period of intrigue and instability in the country.

In her poem, the Kyrgyz poetess reflects the path of a historical person through the prism of national foundations and customs, describing the life of Kurmanjan Datka right up to seeing off the heroine on her last journey.

“Bubaisha Arstanbekova had been writing this poem for about 9 years. The poetess herself says that she was given not just to write about a strong personality who defended her people, sacrificing her son for the peace of her people, the author calls her the Mother of the Kyrgyz. Bubaisha carefully studied her chronology of life for the most accurate report to the readers of the entire life path, the achievement of power and the great political personality of the Kyrgyz people,” the report said.

Arstanbekova took the second place at the international competition Open Eurasia 2014 for her poem "Kurmanjan Datka" in Russian. Thus, her poem became popular not only in Kyrgyzstan, but also abroad. And now her poem has been translated into English to reach an English-speaking audience with her book about the outstanding personality Kurmanjan Datka.

Kurmanjan Datka is the first Kyrgyz woman-statesman and military leader, leader and ruler of Kyrgyz in Alai region from 1832 to 1876.
