Bishkek, June 1, 2018. / Kabar /. The border guards of Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan held a joint session, the Public Relations and Media Department of the State Border Service of the Kyrgyz Republic reported.
On May 31, a meeting of border officials on the Jalal-Abad site of Kyrgyzstan and on the Kurgantepinsky section of Uzbekistan was held at the Kyrgyz-Uzbek section of the state border in Jalal-Abad oblast.
The border representatives of the two countries discussed a number of issues to strengthen bilateral cooperation in the field of state border protection, reviewed the procedure for the exchange of operational information and worked out an action plan for obtaining operational data.
Further, joint exercises were held for the heads of the border units to comply with the requirements of the Line of Behavior of border guards at the Kyrgyz-Uzbek State border. Border guards of Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan traveled to the most difficult sections of the state border, where conflicts occur most often or trafficking of prohibited substances and contraband is possible.
"The exercises are held in accordance with the agreements reached by the leadership of the State Border Service of the Kyrgyz Republic and the Committee for the Protection of the State Border of the State Security Service of the Republic of Uzbekistan, during the meeting in April 2018. The main goal of the joint exercises is to improve cooperation in case of aggravation of the situation on the state border. Such activities also allow us to establish professional contacts that enable us to quickly resolve various issues," said Taalaybek Tazhibaev, the first deputy head of the department of the State Border Service of the KR for Jalal-Abad oblast.
