Bishkek, Jan . 27, 2022 . / Kabar / . Health care institutions of Kyrgyzstan have been put on high alert due to the situation on the border with Tajikistan, the press service of the Kyrgyz Health Ministry said Thursday.
"No one has applied to hospitals in Batken Oblast so far," the report said.
Earlier, the Border Service of Kyrgyzstan's State Committe for National Security reported that border guards of Tajikistan unilaterally blocked the Batken - Isfana road section in Tort-Kocho area of Kyrgyzstan's Batken region.
As a result of negotiations, at 7:30 p.m. the road section was reopened for travel.
"However, at about 7:35 p.m. the situation worsened due to the use of weapons and fire by the Tajik side on the border units of Kyrgyzstan's State Committee for National Security in Chyr-Dobo area of Batken region.
The main exchanges of fire between the Kyrgyz and Tajik border guard units are taking place in Tort-Kocho and Chyr-Dobo areas. The Tajik side is using mortars and grenade launchers," the Kyrgyz Border Service reported.
