Border reps of Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan meet in Batken Oblast

Bishkek, Dec. 9, 2020. /Kabar/. A working meeting of border representatives of Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan was held on Wednesday on the Kyrgyz-Tajik section of the state border in Batken region of Batken Oblast.

The border representatives of the two states summed up the results of their activities for 2020 and agreed on cooperation plans for 2021.

Further, joint practical training was held for heads of border outposts on observing the Line of Conduct of border guards in the Kyrgyz-Tajik section of the state border.

Servicemen of the two states were obliged to strengthen the prevention of offenses at the state border and to improve the effectiveness of cooperation in solving problems arising in the section of the border.

"Since 2015, we have been conducting joint trainings for heads of border outposts. Thanks to the training, the servicemen develop a mechanism of rapid response to changes in the situation on the state border, determine the order of joint actions and the order of rapid exchange of information of mutual interest. The joint training has become one of the factors that made it possible to reduce the number of border incidents at the Kyrgyz-Tajik section of the state border by three times," Chief of Batken Border Patrol Unit, Colonel Kiyalbek Tolonbayev said.

In 2014, 32 incidents were recorded in the Kyrgyz-Tajik section of the state border, in 2020 - 9.
