Bishkek, Jan.17, 2020. /Kabar/. Torugart-Avtodorozhnyi and Irkeshtam- Avtodorozhnyi checkpoints at the Kyrgyz-Chinese section of the state border will be temporarily closed on Jan.24-30 inclusively.
The checkpoints will be closed at the initiative of the Chinese side due to celebration of the Chinese New Year.
“Admittance of persons, vehicles and cargo will resume on Jan.31, 2020,” the press service of the State Border Service of the Kyrgyz Republic said.
Chinese New Year (or generally referred to as Lunar New Year globally) is the Chinese festival that celebrates the beginning of a new year on the traditional Chinese calendar. The festival is usually referred to as the Spring Festival in mainland China.
The first day of Chinese New Year begins on the new moon that appears between 21 January and 20 February. In 2020, the first day of the Chinese New Year will be on Saturday, Jan.25, initiating the Year of the Rat.
