Bishkek, April 22, 2021 . / Kabar / . The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic hosted on Thursday a briefing for the diplomatic corps accredited in Bishkek, UNDP representatives, the Snow Leopard Foundation and the media on the adoption by the UN General Assembly Kyrgyzstan-initiated resolution entitled “Nature knows no borders: Transbounday cooperation is a key factor in the conservation and sustainable use of biodiversity”.
The press service of the Kyrgyz Ministry of Foreign Affairs said the purpose of the resolution is to strengthen transboundary cooperation on biodiversity conservation through joint actions to ensure a clean, safe and stable environment for future generations, while managing natural resources based on the principles of sustainable development and implementation of the 2030 Agenda.
The resolution became an organic continuation of the highly appreciated successful initiatives of Kyrgyzstan in the field of ecology, such as conservation of snow leopard, sustainable development of mountain regions, establishment of the Group of Friends of Mountain Countries at the UN in New York, and other areas.
In 2019-2020, all foreign institutions of the Kyrgyz Republic conducted an extensive international campaign to promote the project, which included presentations of various formats in the countries of accreditation, coordination of the content with UN member states.
