British strain of COVID-19 will reach Kyrgyzstan anyway: health minister

Bishkek, Jan. 13, 2021. /Kabar/. Whether we want it or not, a mutation of COVID-19 (British strain) will reach Kyrgyzstan, Health Minister of the republic Alymbek Beishenaliyev on the air of Birinchi Radio.

According to him, back in January and February 2020, when the pandemic began, despite the restrictions imposed, the virus spread, moreover, the new strain has already been registered in 41 countries around the world, including neighboring Russia.

"We are taking all precautions so that when this type of coronavirus enters, we can track infected, contacted people and immediately limit the infection," the minister said.

He also noted the new British strain is more aggressive, lasts in a complicated form and infects mostly young people.

"If the coronavirus, which we studied before, had a milder form in children and young people, the new type will be more complicated and there may be high mortality. The clinic and diagnosis of the new strain of coronavirus are the same as the old one, and we will not change the fourth treatment protocol," the minister warned.
