Business Innovation Development Centre opened in Bishkek

Bishkek, Feb.14, 2020. /Kabar/. A Business Innovation Development Centre within the PEAK Bishkek Entrepreneurship and Innovation Program, funded by the UK Department for International Development (DFID) has opened in Bishkek.

The official opening ceremony of the PEAK Business Innovation Centre in Bishkek was attended by British Ambassador to the Kyrgyz Republic Charles Garrett and representatives of the Ministry of Economy.

DFID Country Director for Entrepreneurship and Innovation Development Kiyal Sultanbayeva said the PEAK Bishkek Centre will become a platform for cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and the UK, it intends to help entrepreneurs from all over Kyrgyzstan in job creation by supporting start-ups and introducing innovative business methods.

"5 more PEAK Centres are planned to be opened in the regions within two years. We will select the candidates carefully. They need to show that their plans are innovative and there is a desire to realize their project to the end," said Kiyal Sultanbayeva.

PEAK Bishkek started its work in Kyrgyzstan in April 2019. Since then, the centre has received more than 100 applications for participation in the project, of which 12 applications have been selected and will be funded and supported by the project.

PEAK Program is open in Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan and will run for 4 years. The program has a budget of £20 million.

The program aims to support 425 start-ups, small and medium sized enterprises that have successfully completed the PEAK program, which will create 2500 direct jobs by 2023.
