Cabinet Chairman Zhaparov gets acquainted with state of horse breeding farms

Bishkek, May 14, 2022. /Kabar/. As part of his working trip to Kyrgyzstan’s Issyk-Kul Oblast, Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers Akylbek Zhaparov got acquainted with the state of horse breeding farms in Cholpon-Ata.

The press service of the Cabinet reported that plans to develop the capacity of the country to organize horse races at international level, as well as horse breeding in general were discussed during the familiarization.

Representatives of the Equestrian Federation of Kyrgyzstan informed Akylbek Zhaparov about the current state and future plans for development of the horse breeding industry, and expressed their opinion about the need to modernize the existing six horse breeding complexes through the establishment of a state enterprise.

Currently, there are more than 547 thousand horses in the country, about 5 thousand of which are involved in equestrian sports, with more than 20 equestrian events being held annually in the country.

“President of the Kyrgyz Republic instructed to reconstruct the capital hippodrome, the source of financing has already been determined. In the near future, a project meeting international standards will be presented. The second stage is the issue of improving the condition of hippodromes in regions. The most important thing - there is an understanding that this sport needs support, especially in the production of thoroughbred horses," said the head of the Cabinet of Ministers.

Further, Akylbek Zhaparov visited the stud farm located in Baktu-Dolonotu village near Cholpon-Ata town, where he got acquainted with the working conditions of employees and maintenance of breeding stock.

The chairman of the Kyrgyz Cabinet was told in detail about the problems, faced by breeding farms in their activities and shared their plans for its development.
