Cabinet Chairman Zhaparov votes in parliamentary elections

Bishkek, Nov. 28, 2021. / Kabar / . Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan Akylbek Zhaparov voted in the elections of deputies to the Jogorku Kenesh, the press service of the Cabinet said Sunday.

The head of the Cabinet cast his vote at polling station #1142 in Bishkek, located in the building of the secondary general education boarding school.

After the voting procedure, Akylbek Zhaparov addressed his compatriots, urging them to fulfill their civic duty.

"We have the right to elect and be elected. I hope you will make a worthy choice and elect deputies who will protect your interests, promote economic growth, write such laws that will increase your pensions and salaries. For the first time in the country's history, the presidential administration and the cabinet of ministers did not interfere in the electoral process. I count on your responsible, balanced, patriotic civic position," said the head of the Cabinet.

The parliamentary elections are being held in Kyrgyzstan by using a mixed electoral system. 54 deputies are to be elected according to the proportional system in single electoral constituencies, while 36 deputies are to be elected from single-mandate constituencies on a majority basis.

Earlier the parliament of Kyrgyzstan consisted of 120 deputies elected for a five-year term according to party lists.
