Bishkek, Oct. 14, 2022. /Kabar/. The construction of large hydropower plants in Kyrgyzstan will be accelerated, the press service of the Cabinet of Ministers said.

A meeting of the organizing committee for the construction projects of the Kambar-Ata HPP-1, the commissioning of the 2nd hydroelectric unit and the construction of the surface spillway of the Kambar-Ata HPP-2 was held under the chairmanship of Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers Bakyt Torobaev. The meeting noted the importance of the transition to renewable energy sources.

“A green economy is the beacon that investors will come to, demonstrating their commitment to the global agenda to solve environmental problems. According to world tabloids, the shares of those companies that take into account environmental risks show more sustainable growth and stability,” Torobaev said.

In this regard, he noted that the Kambar-Ata hydroelectric power station will be the largest energy facility, which is urgently needed for the socio-economic development of the country. The deputy chairman instructed the heads of relevant ministries to speed up work on updating the previously developed feasibility study, taking into account modern technologies and economic indicators.

Recall that four months ago, the president launched the initial stage of preparatory work at the site of the Kambar-Ata HPP-1, which includes the construction of a bridge, a tunnel, roads, a substation and a shift camp.

Since then, the issue of financing the project has been resolved - a budget loan in the amount of 1 billion 555 million 600 thousand soms has been allocated, divided by years. The general contractor has also been identified - open joint-stock company Narynhydroenergostroy.
