Bishkek, Aug. 9, 2022 . / Kabar / . The Ministry of Economy and Commerce of Kyrgyzstan plans to support commodity producers by creating favorable conditions for the sale of domestic goods in catering enterprises and ensure a fair competitive environment in the Kyrgyz Republic.
According to the draft law, the National Development Program of the Kyrgyz Republic until 2026 states that one of the most important items on the medium-term agenda of the Cabinet of Ministers is to improve the competitiveness of domestic products.
Kyrgyzstan's accession to the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) in August 2015 lowered barriers to importing products into the domestic market. For business and society as a whole, this step brings certain opportunities, but also increases competition with other economies of the Union.
The instability of the national currency exchange rate in the context of global and regional factors also contributes to reducing the competitiveness of domestic goods both in the foreign and domestic market.
"In this connection, the most important tasks are to pursue, within the framework of generally accepted procedures, a policy of reasonable protectionism with regard to domestic commodity producers while maintaining an adequate competitive environment.
At this stage, the draft decree is proposed to assist the domestic industry of production of soft, non-alcoholic, alcoholic beverages in creating favorable conditions for the sale of products in the domestic market by ensuring participation in the ranges of products sold through public catering facilities in the ratio of at least 50 percent of domestic products.
The proposed guaranteed percentage (50 percent) of the assortment of products sold by public catering facilities does not violate the international obligations of the Kyrgyz Republic to the WTO and the EAEU and creates equal conditions for entering the market," the report says.
