Bishkek, Feb.7, 2018 / Kabar /. Direct work on the construction of CASA-1000 is planned to begin this year. Through this line, it is expected to deliver Tajik and Kyrgyz electricity to Pakistan and Afghanistan.
"Implementation of the physical part of the CASA-1000 project is planned to begin during this year in all participating countries," Asia Plus reported referring to the Ministry of Energy and Water Resources of Tajikistan.
The Tajik Ministry of Energy stresses that at the first stage it is planned to begin construction of converter substations in Tajikistan and Pakistan.
"On the territory of Tajikistan, a converter station with a capacity of 1300 mW will be built in Sangtuda. The tender for the technical part is completed. From the side of the World Bank, which is the main investor of the project, it was decided that financial proposals from companies interested in the construction of this facility will be opened in the beginning of March. If the proposals of the companies match with budget estimation, a corresponding contract with the winner of the tender will be signed and the physical realization of the project will start," the ministry said.
The official launch of the CASA-1000 project took place on May 11, 2016 in Tursunzade.
In the framework of the project, a 477-kilometer 500-kilowatt electric power transmission line will be built from the Datka Electric Substation (Kyrgyzstan) till Khujand.
In addition, it is planned to connect a 750-kilometer high-voltage power line to Sangtudu, Kabul and Peshawar.
It is planned to spend $ 1 bln 170 mln for the implementation of the CASA-1000 project.
The main donor of the project is the World Bank (within the framework of the International Development Association).
Initially, it was planned to complete the project in 2020.
