Bishkek, Oct. 27, 2021 / Kabar /. Over the past 2-3 years, cases of child sexual violence have become more frequent in Kyrgyzstan, plenipotentiary for the rights of a child under the President of the Kyrgyz Republic Zhypara Rysbekova told at a round table on the topic “Strengthening partnerships to combat human trafficking among vulnerable youth and children”.
She said that today the most vulnerable segments of the population are young people and children, because they are often unable to talk about their problems.
“There are times when parents themselves sell their children due to difficult life circumstances,” she added.
In addition, Rysbekova pointed out that, according to statistics, children are increasingly subjected to physical and sexual violence.
“In recent years, the number of registered cases of child sexual violence has doubled in Kyrgyzstan, most often girls in the age group of 14-16 are subjected to violence. In turn, 40% of these girls are abused by strangers,” she explained.
In addition, Rysbekova said that the presidential administration is currently developing an action plan to combat human trafficking among vulnerable youth and children.
“Today's round table will be the basis for developing a new program to combat human trafficking among vulnerable youth and children,” Rysbekova summed up.
Earlier the government of Kyrgyzstan developed a program to combat human trafficking among vulnerable youth and children until 2020.
The purpose of the round table "Strengthening partnerships to combat human trafficking among vulnerable youth and children" is to strengthen partnership, interagency cooperation in combating human trafficking among vulnerable citizens.
The event is attended by representatives of government agencies, international and non-governmental organizations invited as experts and partners in the fight against human trafficking.
