Bishkek, Jan. 11, 2021. /Kabar/. The observer mission of the Cooperation Council of Turkic Speaking States (CCTS) noted that Kyrgyzstan’s early presidential elections and the referendum were held openly, democratically and within the framework of the legislation of the republic.
Head of CCTS mission Mirvahid Azimov said observers met with foreign minister of Kyrgyzstan and head of the CEC. Information was provided on the work of the ministry and the diplomatic missions abroad.
According to the observer, in these elections the country abandoned the Form-2 (change of electoral address), which was widely used in the parliamentary elections.
"This can be assessed as a positive step toward the development of democracy," Azimov said.
He noted the voting process was also openly covered by the media. "We visited 13 polling stations and in connection with the pandemic our mission did not encounter any bans. The elections were democratic and within international standards. We had the opportunity to accompany the ballot boxes after the polls closed. This also shows that the country is interested in having open elections," he said.
International observers praised the fact that conditions for disabled people were created at almost every polling station.
"We did not observe any campaign materials at the polling stations, any pressure or attempt to influence the results. The CCTS mission notes the elections were open, democratic and within the framework of Kyrgyz legislation", Azimov concluded his speech.
