CCTS Summit kicks off in Cholpon-Ata

Cholpon-Ata, Sept. 03, 2018. /Kabar/. Leaders of Kyrgyzstan Sooronbay Jeenbekov, Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev, Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, and Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan sat, after a three-year break, at the negotiating table of the Summit of the Cooperation Council of Turkic-speaking States (CCTS).

The Sixth Summit started this morning in Rukh Ordo cultural center on the shore of Issyk-Kul, Cholpon-Ata. President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Prime Minister of Hungary Viktor Orban are taking part in the international negotiations as honorable guests.

The Kyrgyz Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported that the sides will discuss opportunities for interacting within the Council and share views on regional, culture–humanitarian and trade-economic cooperation of Turkic-speaking states, as well as consider prospects for development of the organization itself and other Turkic institutions. One of the key topics will be discussion on cooperation in the area of national sports and youth.

The participant of the summit who arrived the first in Kyrgyzstan was President of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan. Within his official visit on September 1-2, he had meetings with the first persons of state and took part in a number of events, including the official opening ceremony of the Third World Nomad Games, taking up the torch for hosting them in 2020 in Turkey.

The President of Kazakhstan arrived yesterday, on September 2, and also witnessed the opening of the large-scale cultural event on the shore of the Kyrgyz “pearl”.

Azarbaijani leader Ilham Aliyev arrived last night. President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev arrived today as well.

CCTS is an international organization, which unites contemporary Turkic-speaking states. Its main goal is to develop comprehensive cooperation between its member-states. CCTS member-states include the Republic of Azerbaijan, Republic of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyz Republic, and the Republic of Turkey.

This year presidency in CCTS will pass from от the Republic of Kazakhstan to the Kyrgyz Republic..
