CEC chairwoman meets with observers of TURKPA

Bishkek, Jan. 9, 2021 / Kabar /. Nurzhan Shaildabekova, chairwoman of the Central Election Commission (CEC) of Kyrgyzstan met with the Mission of International Observers of the Parliamentary Assembly of Turkic-Speaking Countries (TURKPA) headed by deputy of the Turkish National Assembly Sheker Recep, the press service of the CEC of the Kyrgyz Republic reported.

The head of the Central Election Commission informed her foreign colleagues about the preparations for the upcoming presidential elections and the referendum on determining the form of government in the Kyrgyz Republic, noted a decrease in the level of violations during the electoral process.

“In the course of the current campaign, combating bribery and the use of administrative resources have become the priority areas for making efforts by all government agencies, since these violations have become factors distorting the results of voters' will in the parliamentary elections,” she said.

Sheker Recep wished successful presidential elections and referendum.

“All participants in the electoral process should have one common interest - stability and development of the state. We wish prosperity to fraternal Kyrgyzstan,” he said.

Deputy Secretary General of TURKPA Nauryz Aidarov noted that the mission witnessed the organization of high-level elections during the parliamentary elections in October 2020. “In 1994, Kyrgyzstan was called an “island” of democracy, and having arrived in Kyrgyzstan in those years, we were convinced of this when we first saw the use of a transparent ballot box. We wish the upcoming elections and referendum to be held in compliance with ethical standards and political culture by the participants."
