CEC deprives Tekebayev of mandate of deputy of Kyrgyz Parliament

Bishkek, Nov. 1, 2017 / Kabar /. The Central Election Commission made a decision on the early termination of the powers of the deputy of the Jogorku Kenesh, leader of Ata Meken faction Omurbek Tekebayev. Members of the CEC adopted such a decision today because of the entry into force of the court verdict.

On August 16, 2017, Tekebayev was found guilty by the verdict of the Pervomaisky court of Bishkek on charges of corruption and sentenced to 8 years in prison. Bishkek City Court on October 2, 2017 left the decision of the first instance court in force.

Recall Tekebayev was charged on taking bribe of $ 1 million from Russian business for assistance in buying shares of Alfa Telecom .

Tekebayev denies these accusations.
