An agreement is reached that Centerra Gold Inc. will allocate $ 50 million to Kyrgyzstan for the construction of waste treatment facilities, Sapar Isakov, the Prime Minister of the Kyrgyz Republic, said on Saturday during his visit to Kumtor Gold Company to get acquainted with the activities of the mining company.
"An agreement has been reached that Centerra Gold Inc. has decided to allocate $ 50 million. By the decision of the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic, these funds will be directed to the construction of waste treatment facilities in towns and villages located in the water area of Issyk-Kul Lake. The construction will be carried out in stages. It is important that the purification facilities will be constructed in settlements located in the immediate vicinity of the Kumtor mine itself," the Prime Minister said.
