Bishkek, Aug. 23, 2024. / Kabar/. A Central Asian journalists forum was held in Tashkent (Uzbekistan) on Thursday under the slogan "The Voice of Central Asia: from National Space to Regional Space".
The forum was held at the initiative of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Public Diplomacy Center and the Creative Union of Journalists of Uzbekistan.
The main goal of the event was to create a platform for discussions and solutions to key issues related to the development of independent journalism in the region, the exchange of best practices in international journalism, deeper mutual understanding and cooperation between representatives of the region's media, and the establishment of direct contacts between the unions of journalists of the Central Asian countries.
The forum was attended by delegations of the Union of Journalists, representatives of the mass media, and experts from Central Asian countries.
Kyrgyzstan was represented at the forum by journalists from the ElTR TV channel, as well as representatives of the public association "International Issyk-Kul Forum named after Aitmatov" headed by public figure Assol Moldokmatova.
The forum is dedicated to the International Solidarity Day of Journalists, which has been celebrated annually on September 8 since 1958.
