Tashkent, March 17, 2022. / Kabar /. The main rate of the Central Bank of Uzbekistan has increased by 3 percentage points, the press service of the Bank said Thursday.
Thus, the main rate was raised from 14% to 17%.
The Central Bank last increased the main rate (then the refinancing rate) in 2018. At that time, the rate was raised from 14% to 16%. In 2020, the regulator reduced the rate first to 15% and then to 14%.
Key rate of the Central Bank is the main instrument of monetary policy under the regime of inflation targeting and is a target interest rate on monetary transactions of the Bank with commercial banks. By changing this rate, the Central Bank determines the monetary conditions necessary to ensure price stability in the economy.
