Bishkek, March 25, 2022 / Kabar /. President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Zhaparov attended a ceremony of handing over special equipment to the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Kyrgyzstan and the Border Service of the State Committee for National Security (SCNS).
The ceremony took place in the capital city of Bishkek on Friday.
The Kyrgyz president inspected fire trucks equipped with modern firefighting equipment, special equipment and tools.
Under the Enhancing Resilience to Natural Disaster Risks in Kyrgyzstan (ERIK) project, financed by the World Bank, 58 fire trucks were handed over to the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the republic. Such a large-scale renovation of the fire-engine fleet has not been carried out since 2008.
Further, Sadyr Zhaparov got acquainted with the technical characteristics of the new KAMAZ trucks and modern Tiger armored personnel carriers designed for the State Committee for National Security’s Border Service.
The new equipment were purchased entirely at the expense of the republican budget. This is the first large-scale purchase of new military equipment in such quantity during the years of the country's independence.
The Kyrgyz leader personally tested the characteristics of the special Tiger armored vehicle by driving it around the central Ala-Too square.
The new equipment was purchased to strengthen the defense capability and border security of the country and will be sent to the SCNS Border Service units.
The equipment transferred to the SCNS Border Service and the Ministry of Emergency Situations has a high cross-country capability and is adapted to work in difficult climatic conditions.
