Bishkek, April 2, 2021 . / Kabar / . Karkyra checkpoint on the Kyrgyz-Kazakh border started operating on April 1, Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan Ulukbek Maripov said at the opening of the Ak-Zhol checkpoint.
He noted the checkpoint is opened for the passage of tourists.
"The volume of investments in the tourism sector reaches KGS 30 billion. About 8.5 million people cross the border. Of these, 2 million are tourists. Certainly, the vast majority of them are citizens of Kazakhstan who come to rest on Issyk-Kul Lake,” Maripov noted.
The Kyrgyz prime minister added that today the work in under way with the brotherly countries to bring a new level of cooperation in the field of tourism.
The opening of the Ak-Zhol - Kordai checkpoint after repair took place Friday with the participation of Prime Ministers of Kyrgyzstan Ulukbek Maripov and Kazakhstan Askar Maminov.
